Call for Volunteers: Help Build a New Access on the Buffalo River!
Join TSRA for a fun and rewarding weekend as we build a brand-new public river access on the Buffalo River—a project dedicated to the memory of Craig Burr, a beloved educator and paddler whose legacy continues to inspire. Donations were made in Craig’s memory to support this build, and we are honored to carry forward his passion for teaching and the outdoors. This new access will support education efforts, especially with access to TWRA land located five miles downstream.
This is a great opportunity to give back to the paddling community while enjoying the outdoors with fellow volunteers. No experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to lend a hand! This access point will provide a free public entry to the Buffalo River, increasing opportunities for paddlers without requiring an outfitter fee. It will allow paddlers to launch and take out on TWRA land, improving access for the entire community.
Event Details:
Friday, May 2: Construction begins
Saturday, May 3: Project completion (or Sunday if needed)
Location: Buffalo River, near Hwy 13 crossing (about an hour west of Nashville, 5 miles south of I-40, 3 miles north of Lobelville)
Perks of Volunteering:
Thanks to TWRA, volunteers have the option to stay overnight at Buffalo Ridge in a nearby cabin. The cabin includes a fully furnished kitchen and bathrooms—just bring your own sleeping bag or bedding!
Important Notes:
Volunteers staying overnight must complete a TWRA liability release form before the build. Please contact Patty if you plan to stay overnight.
We need as many hands as possible, so invite your friends and family! Be part of something meaningful and enjoy a fun weekend alongside fellow river enthusiasts in a relaxed and scenic environment.
