Here is your chance to take a 1-day course to introduce the fun world of kayaking. The course will be held on a flat protected body of water so that students can learn new paddling skills in a safe and calm environment. Past students say they came away with a new sense of confidence (kayaks are not so tippy!), an understanding of how to choose the right boat when shopping for themselves, and a set of skills to make paddling a fun, safe, healthy activity that they can use to explore Tennessee’s beautiful lakes and rivers.
Upon course completion students will have gained a sense of stability in a kayak, know how to paddle correctly for control, and know how to conduct a safe experience for themselves and their paddle mates (introductory rescue/recovery training is included).
TSRA courses are taught by American Canoe Association (ACA) Certified Instructors and use the official ACA Course Curriculum. Class section size is restricted so that each instructor can focus on individual learning to meet student needs. All minors must be accompanied by an adult student. If a child can paddle his or her own boat and can swim independently then they need these skills and are welcome to join us.
If you have further questions about the Intro to Paddling class please direct them to Ginger Royster or Scott Strausbaug
