CANOEING BASICS
Learn the “Basics of Canoeing - Tandem and Solo” _ Trip Planning; Gear; Clothing; Unloading and Loading; Carrying; Parts of a Canoe; Safety; Paddle Strokes and Boat Control; Self and Assisted Rescue.
Whether you are interested in solo or tandem canoeing, and you have some experience paddling a canoe or none, this will be an awesome course to attend! In this class you will experience and gain knowledge of basic canoe paddling strokes and safety techniques. You will also learn the "how to" of transporting a boat, along with getting familiar with basic paddling gear. All the information, in this course, is taught by experienced ACA Certified Canoe Instructors.
Class will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp!

Gather down by the river access after parking. Leave boats on your vehicle until class begins.
Please bring an additional $5.00 cash per person for river access fee for the livery.
Items you will need for the class:
- 1. Canoe. Tandem (2 seats) or solo (1 seat). I will have solo boats at the class for you to use for the solo portion of the class if you do not have one or paddle tandem boat in reverse.
- 2. PFD (personal floatation device) – Life Jacket! Must be worn at all times on the water.
- 3. Paddle. Canoe paddle length should be approximately from the ground to snug under your arm pit.
- 4. Swim or sports material clothing. No cotton clothing. Dress for a possible swim.
- 5. Water shoes.
- 6. Light lunch and drink.
