The TSRA 2020 Wilderness First Aid (WFA) & CPR class will be taught by Russ Miller of Wilderness Safety Consultants. Russ has a solid background as a spelunker (caving), rafter and paramedic, and conducts extensive training courses in first aid, CPR, wilderness first responder, technical rope rescue, swiftwater rescue, industrial safety and risk management, to name a few of his areas of expertise. His time as an EMT and paramedic gives him firsthand experience with real, live accidents, and his time on the river gives him firsthand experience in providing medical care in a wilderness setting. This is not your typical first aid/CPR class; this 16 hour class will equip you for the times when your phone says "no service available.”
Location - Ocoee River Rats.
The $165 fee will cover instruction and lunch both days. Students are responsible for lodging/camping and all other meals not mentioned above.
An optional CPR session will be taught Saturday evening following the WFA class. Fee for the CPR session is $40.
